The shakshuka

Two eggs in tomato sauce with a tablespoon of olive oil come to about 300 calories and 13 grams of protein. Most of the calories come from the oil, not the eggs.

The bread and spreads

Two slices of whole-wheat bread add about 160 calories. Tahini, butter and full-fat cheeses are where a light meal quietly turns into a heavy one.

How to balance it

Make the salad bigger, choose 5% white cheese and keep the bread for wiping the plate. The taste stays, and the meal drops by a few hundred calories.
